Washing your hand off sin…

A new study recently concluded that most people feel they have absolved themselves of past sins if they wash their hands or have a chance to clean themselves.

Washing hands

The study states that after someone does something unethical or wrong, they feel dirty, and feel the need to clean themselves; Either by washing their hands or having a shower. I find this immensely interesting. The power of the brain is amazing. All these thoughts of being un-pure is after all brought on by the mind, right? This same mind that has the power to make you do things, whether those actions are right or wrong is determined by the minds consciousness and what it justifies as good and bad.

According to the research

“Past studies have shown there are definite overlaps in the brain in the regions stimulated by moral disgust and physical disgust, the kind you get to potentially bad food or other things you’d evolve to want to avoid,”

So an evil person to the common public is just someone whose mind has been tough that what he/she is doing is not wrong. The question now comes; if they brain can be though that something wrong is right. Cannot it also be re-though what is right and wrong. Can you make a bad person a good person by re-teaching their brains?

Does this become brainwashing?

  1. sam says:

Professor John Lorber neurologist at Sheffield University, while doing some research on hydrocephalus accidentally found a student with no brain. Actually his cranium was filled with fluid and he had reptilian brain stem. Reptilian brains even not enough for basic human body functions like breathing, liver or heart. But The student gained a first-class honors degree in mathematics and he had IQ of 126.

Even though that is the only time one done a research on that, it is not the first time something like that record. In WWI there are some median records of dead solders with no brains. There are few more other records too.

So what is brain? Is mind inside the brain? Do we really need a brain? Does brain decide right and wrong? I don’t know. I even don’t know I have brain right now.

  2. wow sam thats amazing. I did not read this before.. thats pretty crazy. Def. Something to think about.
