I’ve been quiet for a while now. Partly due to a case of bloggatitis which is a rare occurring but powerful case of blogers block; The other culprit being me dealing with a huge amount of comment spam on my blog lately which was getting worse every day.
Jeez, don’t these guys get it that we really don’t want to buy their Callis soft tablets and Viagra etc. First we get attacked through email and now this battle against bloggers everywhere though comment spam.
So the search began, equipping me with the tools needed to meet these unscrupulous fiends head on. I found a variety of plugins for wordpress that allowed random image generation etc. but alas I really hate those. You have to squint, stare, and try at least 3-4 times to finally get wording right. Damm might as well not leave the comment.
In the wee hours of this morning I finally came across the solution. A simple math challenge! Spam bots can’t add, can they? I hope not. So yay, I implemented it and hopefully this will mean that I will no longer be greeted by a long list of spam comments each morning.

Ado this is soo cool mate. I one of those buggers (maybe Un~intelligent or coz of my -2.25 sight or whatever) I cant get through one of those Random Generated Images on the first go. I mean I may be a rare breed, but I am grateful for such applications available and yousir, for employing them
This seems pretty simple. Now if me mathematical brain serves me right, you’d read this comment. If not people around me will have to deal with a horrifying cry (From me of course, while I hit “calc” on the “RUN” menu).
